The aim of the study framework is to roll out ammonia bunkering and scale it globally. This will be done through sharing experiences and views between the partners on how to develop ammonia-fuelled ships and fuel supply chains.

Itochu is joined by 16 companies and organisations spanning the Port of Singapore and several European ports like Rotterdam, Algeciras, Valencia, Huelva, Brunsbuttel and Marseille.

German Mabanaft is the only fuel supplier to join in, while a few shipping firms including ENEOS Ocean Corporation, Mitsui OSK Lines and Navigator Gas have signed up.

Itochu was also part of the first phase of the study framework, along with 33 other shipping firms, port authorities, research institutions and bunker players.
