The 650-TEU vessels can run on multiple fuels, including methanol. Both vessels will also be equipped with battery and shore power capacity.

A2B-online expects “the latest technologies to reduce CO2 emissions significantly by up to 95%.”

The vessels have been developed by A2B-online in collaboration with Hamburg-based ship designer Technolog Services and are under construction at Sedef Shipyard in Turkey.

The company anticipates the vessels to be in service by the end of 2024, from when they will be plying between Moerdijk in the Netherlands and Immingham in the UK.

A2B-online’s chief executive Dinant de Jong believes “it is possible to combine freight transport and environmentally conscious operations.”
