A polar max icebreaker is a vessel designed to operate year-round in the thick multi-year ice of the Arctic and Antarctic regions.
The ship will be delivered to the Canadian Coast Guard by 2030 and is expected to enter service the same year.
Beyond its icebreaking capabilities, the vessel will serve multiple roles — operating as a research platform, supporting oil spill response operations and emergency towing, assisting in maritime rescue operations, and ensuring year-round resupply missions in northern regions.
