Tanker shipping company AET has completed its first bio-LNG trial as part of its efforts to advance decarbonisation and prepare for FuelEU Maritime requirements.
The trial was conducted on the dual-fuel Aframax tanker Eagle Brasilia, which took on bio-LNG during bunkering in Rotterdam before undertaking a cross-European voyage.
The vessel was supplied with bio-LNG during the laden leg of the voyage to meet FuelEU Maritime greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity requirements. The voyage was successfully completed on 10 February.
AET said the successful completion of the trial provided operational insights to support its future fuel strategy.
