Alfa Laval and Hanwha Ocean Ecotech collaborate to develop ammonia fuel system

Swedish engineering company Alfa Laval and Hanwha Ocean Ecotech, a subsidiary of South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean, have teamed up to develop ammonia fuel systems for dual-fuel vessels.

The two companies plan to enhance ammonia fuel systems for dual-fuel ships by pairing Alfa Laval’s expertise in ammonia technology with Hanwha Ocean Ecotech’s marine engineering capabilities.

The partnership covers "pilot projects and subsequent commercial projects" for ammonia fuel systems, including plans for a pilot installation. Further details such as the pilot’s schedule have not yet been disclosed.
