Amogy, LOTTE Fine Chemical to explore ammonia bunkering in South Korea
US-based ammonia technology company Amogy and South Korean chemical manufacturer LOTTE Fine Chemical (LFC) have signed an agreement to jointly develop ammonia-to-hydrogen and ammonia-to-power technologies in South Korea, including marine ammonia bunkering through LFC’s terminal at Ulsan Port.

The agreement covers three areas: hydrogen refuelling infrastructure, distributed ammonia-to-power generation for commercial and community sites, and marine ammonia bunkering.
Under the marine bunkering initiative, the companies will explore supplying ammonia to vessels equipped with Amogy’s Ammonia-to-Power technology, leveraging LFC’s Ulsan terminal and its existing ship-bunkering capabilities.
LFC said it has achieved the world’s first commercial import of green ammonia, as well as the world’s first domestic ship-bunkering supply using green ammonia.
Amogy’s ammonia-cracking technology converts ammonia into hydrogen, enabling high-purity hydrogen production as well as ammonia-to-power generation for stationary, distributed and marine applications.
“LOTTE Fine Chemical's ammonia infrastructure, paired with our ammonia-to-hydrogen and ammonia-to-power technology, gives us a strong foundation to advance hydrogen refueling, distributed power, and marine applications across the region,” Amogy’s chief executive Seonghoon Woo said.
The companies said further details on the scope and timing of the projects will be finalized ahead of execution.
