The two LNG carriers are valued cumulatively at around $509 million and will be built in Yeongam, South Korea, reported by The Korea Economic Daily.
Asyad Group hailed the move as “another landmark" in its plans to boost its "energy logistics capabilities and meet growing global demand” in a social media post.
LNG has been gaining attention as a preferred near-term alternative fuel among shipowners to reduce emissions.
Among a flurry of LNG-related developments, this month, Singapore-based tanker company Hafnia announced that it will add four dual-fuel LNG tankers to its fleet by 2024. Also, the German government granted funds worth $65.8 million to a trio of companies to build three LNG-fuelled bunker barges.
