Avance Gas orders two dual-fuel LPG/ammonia carriers

Norwegian gas company Avance Gas has placed orders for two dual-fuel mid-sized LPG/ammonia carriers with Chinese shipbuilder China International Marine Containers (CIMC).

The vessels can run on LPG or conventional marine fuels. It will also be equipped with shaft generators – which utilise waste heat from the main engine to generate additional power, thereby improving the vessel's fuel efficiency.

The two 40,000 cbm-capacity carriers will be fully capable of carrying ammonia in addition to LPG.

Both vessels are anticipated to be delivered between the fourth quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026.

Avance Gas has the option to place additional orders for two more newbuilds on the same terms.
