The stem was made up of 10% bio-LNG and 90% LNG. It was supplied to German transport company TT-Line’s new RoPax ferry Nils Holgersson, marking the beginning of a long-term partnership between the two companies.
BioLNG is a non-fossil gaseous version of LNG made from organic waste sources.
Avenir Marine, a wholly owned subsidiary of London-headquartered Avenir LNG, will supply LNG and BioLNG to TT-Line’s two new RoPax ferries that will transport passengers and cargo in Sweden, Germany, and Poland.
The operation involved German LNG infrastructure provider Liquind 24/7 and European biomethane trader Landwärme.
Avenir LNG has been expanding its fleet. Last month, the company announced it had taken delivery of a new 20,000 cbm-capacity dual-purpose LNG supply and bunkering vessel, the Avenir Achievement.
