Azane and Amogy to develop ammonia bunker vessel
Norwegian ammonia firm Azane Fuel Solutions has partnered with US-based startup Amogy to assess the technical and financial viability of utilising Amogy’s ammonia propulsion onboard a bunker vessel.

Azane has designed an ammonia bunker delivery vessel concept with a system for handling ammonia cargo. The company is now seeking solutions to equip the vessel with Amogy's ammonia propulsion system, allowing it to run on ammonia as well, Azane said in an emailed statement.
“The reason for providing an ammonia bunker vessel is to help decarbonise the shipping industry,” CEO of Azane Fuel Solutions Hakon Skjerstad said. “Because of this, we need a zero-emission solution to provide propulsion to our vessels,” he added.
Azane aims to offer similar bunker vessels for ammonia deliveries in key bunker ports such as Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerp and Singapore once the bunker vessel development is fully complete.
Azane has been working with Yara to develop what could become one of the world's first ammonia bunker and loading stations. Last year, Yara pre-ordered 15 floating bunkering terminals from Azane and aims to roll them out all over Scandinavia.
