The 7,500 cbm capacity vessel will be equipped with an LNG dual-fuel engine along with rotor sails. Upon delivery, the vessel will be chartered to Northern Lights for an unspecified period.
Northern Lights is a carbon capture and storage joint venture between oil majors Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies. The vessel will be used to transport LCO2 from northwest Europe to the Northern Lights' receiving terminal in Øygarden, an island town in Norway.
Dalian Shipbuilding is also building three LCO2 carriers for the Northern Lights.
