The Pelican, a roll-on/roll-off freight vessel chartered from Maritime Nantaise, operates between UK's Poole Harbour and Spain's Bilbao port.
Over 1.5 million litres of B25 has been delivered at Poole by Whitaker Tankers since February 2025, according to the Poole port authority.
The B25 blend contains 25% fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) sourced from recycled food waste and it can be used as a drop-in fuel without needing any modifications to the vessel or port infrastructure, the press release said.
It is noteworthy that Whitaker’s bunker vessel Whitchampion was recently certified by Lloyd’s Register to load, carry and blend FAME B100 on board.
