The concept pairs LNG dual-fuel propulsion with sail-assisted technology to improve efficiency and reduce emissions.

The vessel is fitted with three foldable wing sails made from lightweight composite materials, each capable of independent rotation and folding to adapt to operating conditions.

On typical trade routes, the design is expected to lower overall energy consumption by more than 5% and reduce annual CO2 emissions by around 2,900 tonnes, according to BV.

As part of the approval process, BV conducted focused evaluations of structural strength, material durability, and operational safety, confirming the design’s suitability for long-haul, ocean-going LNG transport.
