BV approves LNG dual-fuel CO2 carrier design

The 85,000 cbm design uses a low-pressure containment system and is aimed at the carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) trade.

Class society Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) has granted an Approval in Principle (AiP) to a liquefied CO2 carrier developed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI).
The vessel will be able to run on LNG or conventional fuels. Its cargo tanks use a low-pressure containment system built specifically for liquefied CO2.
