The designs are intended to advance decarbonisation in deep-sea shipping.

One design is a 159,000 DWT ammonia dual-fuel crude oil tanker intended for long-distance crude transport. It features an ammonia-capable main engine, twin large ammonia fuel tanks positioned on the main deck, and wind-assisted propulsion to further curb emissions.

The second approval covers a 21,700 TEU ultra-large container ship capable of running on ammonia, aimed at enabling the green transition of global mainline container shipping.
