They intend to develop a green hydrogen production plant with 1 gigawatts (GW) of electrolysis capacity in Algeciras. The hydrogen could go towards producing marine fuels and to power generation.
Last week, Cepsa launched the "Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley" hydrogen production project. Its partners on the project are Enagás Renovable, a subsidiary of the Spanish energy firm Enagás', and semiconductor manufacturer Alter Enersun.
The trio announced plans to build green hydrogen production plants with 2 GW of electrolysis capacity in Huelva in southern Spain. They expect to produce 300,000 mt/year of green hydrogen.
