Hong Kong-based marine fuel supplier Chimbusco Pan Nation (CPN) supplied over 2,000 mt of International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC)-EU certified UCOME-based B24 biofuel stem to GSL Kithira container ship operated by Maersk.
ISCC is a global certification system that sets standards for the sustainable production, sourcing and trade of all kinds of bio-based feedstocks and biofuels. The ISCC-EU certification provides an assurance that the biofuel blends supplied by CPN are sustainably produced from biomass and meet the legal requirements of the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive.
CPN said the blend was composed of 76% marine fuel oil and 24% biofuel derived from used cooking oil methyl ester (UCOME).
CPN's latest biofuel stem delivery in Hong Kong has set "a new standard in the region’s commitment for environmental sustainability", CPN said.
The company supplied 700 mt of B24 biofuel stem to Japanese shipping company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha's (K Line) vessel in Hong Kong in August.
