China’s daily average VLSFO output in August gained by about 8% month-on-month to 35,484 mt, according to JLC. Higher VLSFO production can be attributed to reduced refinery maintenance in August.
Sinopec’s VLSFO output grew in August, as its subsidiary Jinling Petrochemical resumed production after maintenance work. Qingdao Petrochemical’s monthly output also got a boost, despite its Shengli Oilfield being under maintenance, JLC said.
PetroChina’s overall production also increased last month, with its Liaohe Petrochemical, Jinzhou Petrochemical and Dagang Petrochemical ramping up production.
Meanwhile, CNOOC’s August VLSFO output was largely unchanged from July.
In contrast, both Zhejiang Petrochemical Corp (ZPC) and Sinochem recorded zero VLSFO production in August, JLC noted.
On a year-on-year basis, the country’s VLSFO output fell by 5% last month.
