A river-sea container ship is a vessel designed to transport cargo on both inland rivers and open seas, facilitating cargo movements between different types of waterways.
Each 400-TEU container ship will be equipped with 10 marine containerized battery systems for propulsion. These batteries can be swapped out when exhausted, allowing for continuous full-electric operation.
Once constructed and delivered, the two ships will operate between Yangshan Deepwater Port and Taicang Port in China.
These vessels will be the first pure electric container ships of their kind in China, Wuhu Shipyard claims.
