China’s Shanghai Electric supplied the biomethanol from its Jilin plant in Taonan and physically delivered to the containership CMA CGM Osmium by SIPG Energy using a bunker vessel.
The bunkering marks the largest biomethanol stem delivered at a Chinese port, CMA CGM said.
The delivery forms part of CMA CGM’s broader biomethanol supply arrangement with SIPG Energy and Shanghai Electric.
Last year, the shipping group signed a long-term framework offtake agreement to source biomethanol from Shanghai Electric’s Jilin plant, with SIPG Energy handling fuel deliveries to meet its future biomethanol requirements in China.
CMA CGM plans to operate a combined total of 200 LNG- and methanol-capable dual-fuel vessels by 2031.
