The 18,000-TEU ships will be capable of running on LNG as well as conventional marine fuels.

Wärtsilä will deliver the engines through its joint venture CWEC (Shanghai). Engine deliveries to Jiangnan Shipyard are scheduled to begin in 2027.

The company has not disclosed details about the vessels' intended deployment. The French shipping group already operates more than 160 Wärtsilä’s LNG dual-fuel engines across its fleet.
