Conrad Shipyard and Samsung Heavy Industries secure ABS approval for LNG bunkering barge
The American Bureau of Shipping has approved the design of 12,000-cbm LNG bunkering articulated tug and barge (ATB) jointly developed by US shipbuilder Conrad Shipyard and South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries.

An ATB is a tugboat and barge connected by a hinged coupling system, enabling them to operate as a single vessel while retaining the flexibility to separate when required.
The approval in principle (AiP) recognises the development of a vessel concept intended for construction in the US and builds on the cooperation established between Conrad Shipyard and Samsung Heavy Industries to develop LNG bunkering vessels.
The two companies signed an agreement in December last year to jointly explore the development of LNG bunkering vessels for the US market.
