The pure electric passenger ship, with a capacity to accommodate 58 passengers, will be equipped with a 293.9-kilowatt hour (kWh) battery and 40-kilowatt (kW) straight-wing rudder propellers for propulsion. Straight-wing rudder propellers combine propulsion and steering in one unit.

Designed by Wuhan Yangtze River Ship Design Institute, East Lake Star will be built by Funing Shipbuilding Heavy Industry. The battery system has been developed by Ningde Times Electric Boat Company.

The vessel will be built in accordance with CCS' guidelines for "Green Ships on Inland Rivers.”

Other members involved in the project include Ningde City State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Ningde City Tourism Development Group and CCS Fuzhou Branch.

The ship has been hailed as “new business card” of Ningde Cultural Tourism.
