Danish Maritime Authority to make a push for alternative fuels
April 22, 2022
The Danish Maritime Authority (DMA) says it will push for global regulations that will incentivise production and uptake of alternative bunker fuels.
DMA has entered into a knowledge-sharing partnership with the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping to work towards decarbonising shipping.
DMA and Mærsk Mc-Kinney say uptake of new fuel types are needed to realise systemic changes to achieve long-term decarbonisation targets in the shipping industry, which accounts for 3% of global carbon emissions.
