On Monday, the Bellina Colossus had no engine power and was towed from Bayport Flare to Bayport Container Terminal 2, according to an advisory by Moran Shipping.
The Bayport Ship Channel, which is part of the larger Houston Ship Channel network near Galveston Bay, serves as a direct route to one of the Port of Houston’s major container terminals.
Traffic along the Bayport Ship Channel, between Bayport Flare and the Turning Basin, has been restricted by Vessel Traffic Service Houston-Galveston, with normal operations likely to resume shortly.
"While the Houston Ship Channel itself resumed normal traffic by 8 pm (CDT), some ripple effects could briefly impact nearby terminals or scheduled vessel arrivals and departures," a source said.
