DNV approves LNG dual-fuel carrier design

Class society DNV has approved a dual-fuel LNG carrier design by South Korea’s HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI).

The 271,000-cbm vessel will be capable of operating on either LNG or conventional marine fuels. The vessel has five cargo tanks and is HD HHI’s largest LNG carrier design to date, according to DNV.
“We are continuing to see the demand for larger and more efficient vessels in the LNG trade,” said Vidar Dolonen, regional manager for Korea and Japan at DNV.
