Eight LNG-fuelled vessels ordered in March - DNV

Classification society DNV says there are currently 894 LNG-fuelled vessels in operation or on order globally, up from 886 in February.

This comes after 10 LNG-fuelled vessels were ordered in February, while no orders were placed in January.

The LNG-fuelled fleet is currently made up of 368 vessels, with another 175 expected to join this year. The majority of newbuild orders are for container ships, car carriers, tankers and bulk carriers.

Nearly 50% of the LNG-fuelled ships in operation today are deployed in Europe, including 16% in Norway. Asia (10%) and the Americas (8%) follow the list.

No methanol-fuelled vessels were ordered in March, which means the total still stands at 106 vessels.
