Spanish energy company Enagás’ subsidiary Scale Gas has been awarded €15 million ($15 million) in funding from the Spanish government to construct the vessel from June next year.

It will be used to deliver LNG and bio-LNG to ships in the Canary Islands. The vessel will be suitable for retrofit to supply ammonia stems in future to further support decarbonisation efforts in the region.

The new vessel is a part of Enagás’ Net Zero hive initiative that seeks to promote and facilitate efforts that aim to decarbonise the shipping industry.
