Enerkem and Technip Energies have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate and accelerate the deployment of Enerkem's technology platform for biofuels.
For this project, Technip Energies will provide engineering expertise, and technological integration, while project delivery support will be provided by Enerkem, they said in a statement.
The biofuels and low-carbon fuels produced will be used to cater to demand from sectors such as shipping.
As a strategic effort to step up the deployment of Enerkem’s technology, it also intends to establish a Development Company (DevCo), responsible for acquiring sites and securing permits for Enerkem’s replicable methanol biorefinery design to produce bio and low-carbon fuels and circular chemicals, the company added.
The company is currently also working on another project to develop and construct new commercial-scale waste-to-methanol facilities in Canada and Europe currently, the company further stated.
Enerkem’s chief executive, Dominique Boies said that this partnership will accelerate the company’s technology in the US, Europe, and the Middle East.
