EU to impose sanctions on Russia-linked Sun Ship Management
EU officials consider sanctioning the Dubai-based shipping company Sun Ship Management, which is accused of helping Russian state-owned company Sovcomflot’s fleet in bypassing trading restrictions.

Diplomats believe Sovcomflot transferred its 92-vessel fleet to Sun Ship Management in April 2022, Politico says. Russian firms have faced heavy sanctions from the EU and other Western countries for Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. The sanctions have restricted movement of Russia-owned or operated vessels in international waters.
Sun Ship Management’s website says it was established in 2012. It has UAE and Russia-based owners and it is managed by multinationals. The website does not provide further details about the owners, but it lists 92 Liberia- and Cyprus-built vessels in the fleet.
A link to Sovcomflot appears on Sun Ship Management website under the “partners & technical team” header. Sun Ship Management was known as SCF Management Services earlier.
