Exmar adds new LPG dual-fuel gas carrier

Belgian shipping firm Exmar has taken delivery of a new LPG dual-fuel gas carrier for its French subsidiary, Exmar France.

The 41,000-cbm Mottaret can run on both LPG and conventional marine fuel. The company has not disclosed where the vessel will be deployed.

Exmar also took delivery of three 41,000-cbm LPG dual-fuel vessels - Meribel, Menuires and Moriond - in the first half of this year, according to its half-year report.

The deliveries form part of a wider expansion of Exmar’s LPG dual-fuel mid-size gas carrier fleet, covering 10 vessels.

Four of the 10 vessels were added through a newbuilding contract acquired from Avance Gas. These 41,000-cbm LPG dual-fuel vessels were being built at CIMC
Sinopacific in China.

It chartered another six LPG dual-fuel newbuilds from an undisclosed Japanese shipowner. The six comprise four 41,000-cbm vessels and two 49,000-cbm vessels and were being built at Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding (YAMIC) in China when Exmar announced the deal in November 2024.
