Exmar takes delivery of second ammonia dual-fuel gas carrier

Belgian shipping company Exmar has taken delivery of its second ammonia-capable dual-fuel gas carrier.

The 46,000-cbm gas carrier Arlon will carry ammonia as cargo and use it as fuel for propulsion. The vessel is equipped with a WinGD dual-fuel ammonia engine, which requires around 5% pilot fuel when operating on ammonia.

Exmar has ordered four ammonia-capable midsized gas carriers from South Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai.

Arlon is the second vessel in the series to be delivered, following Antwerpen. It will be followed by a third delivery later this year and a fourth in early 2027.
