ExxonMobil delivers biofuel blend to UK defence vessel

June 19, 2024

ExxonMobil Marine has completed the first biofuel bunkering on the UK south coast, delivering the undisclosed amount of fuel to Anvil Point, a ro-ro vessel chartered by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and part of Foreland Shipping’s fleet.

The B7 biofuel blend, which was delivered, contained 7% biofuel derived from waste-based fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) and 93% LSMGO. This switch from LSMGO to the biofuel blend is estimated to reduce lifecycle CO2 emissions by 5.7%, Foreland Shipping's general manager Stephen Cooper claims.

“As a leading supplier to the MoD, we must maintain high fuel quality standards. This is why we partnered with ExxonMobil Marine Fuels and their dedicated barge operator, Whitaker Tankers,” Cooper said.
