The 13,000-TEU CMA CGM Mercury is part of the company’s planned fleet of 12 dual-fuel ships, all scheduled for delivery by 2026.

CMA CGM has not yet specified where the new vessel will be deployed.

Last year, CMA CGM signed an agreement with Abu Dhabi’s state-owned renewable energy company Masdar to “source, supply, and deliver green alternative fuels for CMA CGM’s dual-fuel vessels, starting in 2025 and following the incremental phase-in of the vessels until 2028,” according to its website.

Masdar hinted that the green alternative fuels could include bio-methanol and e-methanol, though specific details were not disclosed.
