The operation involved a commercial container vessel that was supplied with an unspecified amount of bio-LNG.
The renewable natural gas used in the production of the bio-LNG was sourced from a facility operated by Morrow Energy, a US-based second-generation biogas systems company.
"This loading operation serves as a critical proof-of-concept for the scalable deployment of bio-LNG in commercial shipping, demonstrating its immediate potential to decarbonize maritime transport," according to the Seaspan.
