The B24 biofuel blend consisted of 24% biofuel derived from waste cooking oil and 76% high sulphur fuel oil (HSFO). The blend was supplied by China’s state-owned oil company Sinochem’s Zhoushan Xingzhong Oil Depot, according to Zhoushan port authority.

The bunkering operation of COSCO Italy container vessel was carried out by the Sijie 21 bunkering vessel.

“This is the first biofuel refueling business for an international ship in Ningbo Port, marking a ‘zero breakthrough’ in the field of marine biofuel oil refueling,” the government website quoted, attributing the media outlet Ningbo Daily. Ningbo Port also offers LNG bunkering services, the website added.

“This is the first time that high-sulfur biofuel oil has been added in Zhoushan Port after LNG and low-sulfur biofuel oil, marking a new breakthrough in the supply of bonded marine fuel in Zhoushan Port…”, Zhoushan port authority said, attributing Zhoushan Daily media outlet.
