Fuel Switch Snapshot: Sharp LNG price rises in major ports
Rotterdam LNG up nearly $100/mt this month
LNG price in Singapore gains on supply concerns
LBM’s discount to fossil LNG narrows slightly

All bunker prices mentioned below have been adjusted for calorific contents to make them VLSFO-equivalent. They have estimated EU-EU voyage compliance costs included for Rotterdam, and non-EU-EU compliance costs included for Singapore. These account for EU ETS costs and FuelEU Maritime penalties, and our estimated compliance surplus values for FuelEU pooling. Rotterdam's B100 and LBM prices also factor in Dutch HBE rebates for advanced liquid and gaseous biofuels sold in the Netherlands.
LNG’s price premium over VLSFO in Rotterdam has increased in the past week.
Rotterdam LNG’s premium over VLSFO has widened to $134/mt for dual-fuel vessels with Otto medium-speed (Otto MS) engines, while its discount has narrowed to $31/mt for vessels with diesel slow-speed (diesel SS) engines.
LNG’s premium over liquefied biomethane (LBM) in Rotterdam has decreased by $4/mt, to $158-206/mt depending on the vessel’s engine type and methane slip.
In Singapore, LNG is at a $39-122/mt premium over VLSFO, also depending on vessel engines and methane slip.

Rotterdam B100’s discount to VLSFO has narrowed by $7/mt over the past week, now at $163/mt.
The theoretical FuelEU pooling benefit for a ship sailing between EU ports and selling the compliance surplus it generates from using B100 has increased by $17/mt over the past week, to $693/mt.
Singapore B100’s premium over VLSFO has risen by $10/mt to $499/mt, after factoring in estimated pooling benefits for voyages between Singapore and EU ports.
Liquid fuels
Global gasoil prices have rallied on potential supply disruptions from the Israel-Iran war. Rotterdam’s LSMGO price has increased by $110/mt in last two weeks, while Singapore’s has gained by $92/mt.
On the other hand, VLSFO prices have dipped by $1-2/mt in Singapore and Rotterdam, as front-month ICE Brent utures cooled over the past week.
B100 prices in Rotterdam and Singapore have remained fairly stable.
Rotterdam’s B100 has edged up by $5/mt, while Singapore’s benchmark has gained $9/mt.
"Availability of B100 and other bio-blends remains good in Rotterdam, with lead times recommended at 2-3 days," Nick de Haan, head of decarbonisation strategies at Burando Energies, told ENGINE.
Another supplier said recent strong demand has put pressure on barge availability and recommends at least seven days of lead time.
Liquid gases
Rotterdam’s LNG price has jumped by $32/mt in the past week. This is its third consecutive weekly increase, bringing the total rise since 9 June to $97/mt.
The price has drawn support from a 17% rise in our assessed LNG bunker delivery premium, which has climbed to $171/mt, and a 3% gain in the Dutch TTF Natural Gas contract, which is now at $12.77/MMBtu ($664/mt).
Singapore’s LNG benchmark has also surged, up $80/mt on the week. The price increase has largely been driven by “rising tensions in the Middle East,” which have renewed supply concerns, according to JOGMEC.
The surge was further supported by a 9% increase in the assessed LNG bunker delivery premium, which has climbed to around $112/mt.
