Fujairah bunker sales fall again in August as HSFO demand weakens
Weaker HSFO sales weighed on Fujairah's bunker market, pushing total sales down by 3% in August, according to Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ) and S&P Global Commodity Insights.

Changes in Fujairah bunker fuel sales from July to August:
- Total sales down by 3% to 221,000 mt
- VLSFO sales up by 4% to 148,000 mt
- HSFO sales down by 17% to 58,000 mt
- LSMGO sales up by 11% to 15,000 mt
Fujairah's bunker sales declined again in August, averaging around 7,100 mt/day, down by roughly 200 mt/day from July. The fall followed a rebound in July that broke five consecutive months of decline.
HSFO sales fell sharply by around 12,000 mt to 58,000 mt in August. On a daily basis, HSFO sales averaged around 1,900 mt/day, down from 2,200 mt/day in July.
In contrast, sales of VLSFO, typically the most in-demand bunker fuel grade, increased by nearly 6,000 mt during the month.
LSMGO sales also edged higher, rising by around 1,600 mt to 15,000 mt in August.
Fujairah's total bunker sales for the first eight months of the year reached 2.07 million mt, representing a steep 57% decline from the same period last year.

Fuel grade share of total sales in August (compared to the year to date):
- 67% VLSFO 380cst (62% YTD)
- 0.03% VLSFO 180cst (0.30% YTD)
- 26% HSFO (32% YTD)
- 7% LSMGO (6% YTD)
- 0.04% of 0.50% MGO (0.07% YTD)
