Furetank takes dual-fuel tanker count to 21

Swedish shipping company Furetank has placed orders for two additional dual-fuel tankers that can run on liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied biogas (LBG) and conventional marine fuels.

The latest order takes the company’s dual-fuel tanker orderbook to 21.

The two 17,999 dwt vessels will be built at the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou, China. Both vessels are expected to be delivered between 2026 and 2027.

The vessels will be equipped to use shore power where it is available and have battery power to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

It will also feature two methane slip reducing technologies, developed by Furetank and Wärtsilä.

After completion, the new tankers will be included in the Gothia Tanker Alliance, and operated out of Gothenburg, Sweden.
