G2 Ocean to welcome four new vessels to its fleet
Norway-based ship operator G2 Ocean has announced the addition of four ammonia- or methanol-ready vessels.

These new additions will be open hatch vessels of 82,300 dwt each.
Ammonia- or methanol-ready means that the vessels will not be capable of running on ammonia or methanol upon delivery. These vessels will have the option to be retrofitted for ammonia or methanol propulsion in the future. This implies they will most likely run on fossil marine fuels upon delivery.
A dedicated deck space has been incorporated into the vessel design for a future installation of fuel tanks for alternative fuels.
The shipping firm Gearbulk, a fleet partner of G2 Ocean, will provide the vessels to G2 Ocean. Gearbulk has placed a firm order for two vessels with the Chinese shipyard CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Longxue, with an option to purchase two more. The first two vessels will be delivered to G2 Ocean in the first half of 2027.
