Norwegian green hydrogen firm Gen2 Energy has signed a long-term lease agreement with Norway’s Åfjord municipality.
Gen2 Energy intends to construct a green hydrogen production facility at a leased site in Monstad Havneområde. The green hydrogen firm thinks that the location's proximity to quay facilities will pave the way for exporting large quantities of green hydrogen to European markets.
It is currently conducting a feasibility study on the proposed hydrogen production facility. The study has been launched to gain greater clarity around significant features such as the size and scope of green hydrogen production.
The leased area will be thoroughly examined before any construction work can begin, Gen2 Energy says.
“Åfjord has a good mix of low-cost renewable energy, access to land for industrial purposes with good shipping possibilities," Gen2 Energy’s managing director Jonas Meyer says. He thinks the location is ideal for the large-scale production of green hydrogen.
