The port's bunker calls in October were 3% higher than the previous month, when 387 bunker calls were recorded, according to the GPA data.
The port received 4,204 bunker calls in the first ten months of this year. This is up by 6% compared to the same period last year when 3,953 calls were recorded.
Gibraltar is likely experiencing an extended cruise season this year as the number of cruise vessels calling at the port for bunkers has increased from the preceding month. Around 37 cruise ships arrived in Gibraltar this October, up from 24 in September and higher than 27 in October 2023.
A total of 143 cruise ships called for bunkers in Gibraltar in the first ten months of this year, a slight increase from 136 in the same period a year ago. Bunker fuel demand increases with cruise traffic, which usually peaks between April and September every year.
The port authority does not publish data on bunker sales volumes.
