Gibraltar’s bunker calls in November were the highest since June this year when 481 bunker calls were registered. The number of ships calling to bunker in November rose by 20% from the preceding month when 400 ships were recorded, GPA data reveals.

The port received 4,683 bunker calls in the first 11 months of this year, recording a 16% spike from 4,029 ships from the same period last year.

Bunker fuel demand usually increases with cruise traffic, which peaks during the summer months from April to September. However, this year has witnessed an extended cruise season. Around 34 cruise ships arrived in Gibraltar for bunker in November, slightly down from 37 in October, but higher than the 27 cruise ships recorded in November 2023.

A total of 177 cruise ships called at Gibraltar in the first 11 months of this year, an uptick from 163 in the same period a year ago.
