At 71,300 gross tonnes, they will be the largest ferries operating in the Mediterranean, GNV said.
Construction is scheduled to begin next year, with the first vessel expected for delivery in early 2028 and the others following at six-month intervals.
The order comes on top of a previous contract with Guangzhou Shipyard that includes the LNG-capable RoPax vessels GNV Polaris and GNV Orion. This new order brings the number of newbuilds expected to join the GNV fleet between 2025-2030 to eight.
GNV is part of the Mediterranean Shipping Company Group, which has an existing partnership with the Chinese shipyard.
GNV is an Italian shipping company and primarily operates ferry routes across the western Mediterranean.
