GTT bags tank design orders from Samsung Heavy Industries

French containment system builder GTT has received orders to design tanks for five new liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGCs).

South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries has placed the orders on behalf of a number of unnamed shipping companies.

The tanks will have a capacity between 174,000-180,000-cbm each.

They will be fitted with GTT’s membrane containment system, which the company says is "a cryogenic liner used to contain liquefied gas at low temperatures during shipping, onshore and offshore storage, at atmospheric pressure.”
