The membrane containment system is used to store and transport LNG safely and efficiently. It features “a cryogenic liner used to contain liquefied gas at low temperatures during shipping, onshore and offshore storage, at atmospheric pressure,” according to GTT.

This approval allows LNG tanks with GTT’s membrane containment systems to be converted for ammonia use on LNG-fuelled vessels, increasing their versatility for future retrofitting to ammonia.
