An IMO type 2 chemical tanker is designed for transporting moderately hazardous chemicals according to International Maritime Organisation (IMO) standards.
These 7,700-dwt capacity vessels will be capable of supplying biofuel blends up to B100 (100% biofuel) and methanol.
The first tanker is expected to be delivered in 2026. The agreement also includes an option for an additional four vessels. The company has not yet specified where the vessels will be deployed.
Last month, HTM ordered four 7,700-dwt IMO Type 2 chemical tankers from the same builder, which will be chartered to marine fuel supplier Peninsula.
“This new vessel order marks a significant milestone for HTM as we expand and renew our fleet to meet the needs of HTM’s and Peninsula’s customer base,” John A. Bassadone, founder of both Peninsula and HTM said.
