The two vessels can run on both LNG and conventional marine fuels, and are fitted with scrubbers.

Himalaya expects to take delivery of them between January and June 2024. Upon delivery, both vessels will be chartered out for a period of 22-26 months, with an option for an 11-13-month extension.

Himalaya has so far taken delivery of four bulk carriers - Mount Norefjell, Mount Ita, Mount Etna and Mount Blanc - in a series of 12 being built by New Times Shipyard.

The company has chartered out nine of its 12 bulk carriers so far and “are witnessing strong interest” for the three remaining vessels.
