The 210,000-dwt bulk carrier, Mount Norefjell, is the first in a series of 12 dual-fuel dry bulk carriers being built for Himalaya Shipping by New Times Shipyard in China. The company expects to take delivery of two more vessels of the series in next 45 days, followed by another three by the end of 2023, and the remaining six by the third quarter of 2024.
The vessel, which can run on both LNG and conventional marine fuels, will be chartered out for a two-year period.
In another development in the LNG space, Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line) launched its third LNG-fuelled pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) this month.
