The 210,000-dwt bulk carrier, Mount Ita, can run on both LNG and conventional marine fuels. It will be chartered out for a period of 32-38 months, with an option for 11-13 months extension.
The company has recently taken delivery of the first vessel, Mount Norefjell, in the series. It expects to take delivery of one more vessel in next 45 days, followed by another three by the end of this year. The remaining six vessels are expected to be delivered by the third quarter of 2024.
Among a slew of developments in LNG space this month, US-based tanker company International Seaways took delivery of a dual-fuel LNG very large crude carrier (VLCC) from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME). And Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri launched a 176,000 gross tonnage (GT) LNG dual-fuel cruise ship that it has built for the US cruise line Princess Cruises.
